Robert Picciotto - The Science of Breathing

Robert Picciotto - The Science of Breathing

I have greatly benefited from Buteyko training.  Glenn's approach relies on systematic monitoring of behaviour and impacts. It is theory based which was critical in my case since I was not aware of the linkages between faulty breathing, carbon dioxide deficits and physiological stress.

I now understand that the stress of daily life promotes deep breathing - a bad habit fortified by the widely prevailing notion that moving a lot of oxygen into our lungs is a good thing.

Of critical importance was Glenn's use of objective tests that diagnosed the specific dispositions and habits that prevented me from relying on nasal, diaphragmatic breathing. This helped Glenn to prescribe a tailor made program of training exercises designed to induce healthy breathing adapted to my metabolic requirements. It was not always easy to implement but the results were rewarding. My quality of life has improved. I sleep better.  I am more relaxed. Glenn White's results oriented approach works.
