I’m stepping away to pursue international research and study, with plans to open a new clinic in the future. A heartfelt thank you to the many clients and health professionals, including my fellow breathing educators, who have supported the clinic since its founding in 2001. Together we’ve helped spread awareness of the vital role healthy breathing plays in transforming lives. Warm regards, Glenn White Founder, Buteyko Breathing Clinic www.buteykobreathing.nz
Reflecting on 25 Years of Breathing Education
As I prepare to close the Buteyko Breathing Clinic, I’m reflecting on the work that has shaped my life and the lives of many others. Since opening in 2001 I’ve had the privilege of supporting thousands of individuals in transforming their health through the Buteyko Breathing Method. From helping children with asthma to assisting adults with anxiety, sleep disorders, chronic fatigue and long Covid, my mission has been to restore natural breathing and empower people with practical tools for lifelong change. It’s been an honour to help so many people discover the power of functional breathing and improve their quality of life. I’m deeply grateful to every client, colleague, and supporter who has been part of this work. I’m looking forward to some time out, catching up with friends in far-flung places, and pursuing research and study opportunities outside of New Zealand. As a Buteyko colleague once said to me, this is something we can never walk away from.
Client Stories: The Donovan Family Overcome their Asthma
“We wanted to say how wonderful the course has been for our family. Rob has been free from asthma now for 16 years, Tom and Skye who were using inhalers on a regular basis are now medication-free. Jimi, who was a severe unstable asthmatic, regularly hospitalised and on one occasion helicoptered to Auckland, and on high doses of medication, is now asthma-free.” – Carol and the Donovan Family Read the full testimonial from the Donovan family and more testimonials here.
Over the years I’ve collaborated with health professionals and helped
train Buteyko Institute certified practitioners in New Zealand and Japan, many
of whom will continue to offer support after our closure. Here’s what one
medical professional shared:
“I feel confident in recommending this course to my patients who have asthma, sleep problems, panic attacks, and sleep apnoea. I believe every health professional should experience this course for themselves. The theory is well worth hearing as it makes sense, and its practical application is the evidence of its efficacy. It’s quite possible that Buteyko breathing could have much wider health applications.” – Dr. Anne O’Reilly, MBChB, FRNZCGP, NZDSOS Read Anne’s full testimonial and more feedback from medical practitioners here.
Thank you for being part of the Buteyko Breathing Clinic’s story. On this parting note, if you feel like sending me a quick email hello or goodbye it would be super-lovely to hear from you. I have written a couple of articles that explain the vital role of breathing retraining in restoring health.
